Mans Kalkulators

Privacy policy

This page describes what manskalkulators.lv actually does with data. The short answer: the figures you type into a calculator never leave your device, you never need an account, and analytics cookies are set only after you have agreed to them.

What we do not collect

Our own statistics do not store your IP address, browser identifier, session id, device id or advertising id. No field in our database holds anything that could identify you. (Google Analytics is a separate matter — see the section below.)

The figures you type into a calculator — a salary, a weight, a loan amount — never leave your device. The calculation happens in your browser or in the app, and the result is not sent anywhere.

What we do count

We count how many times each calculator is opened and used, in which language, from which kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), and which host you arrived from. A host means "google.com", not the full address — full addresses often carry personal data in the search query.

We also store the search queries you type into the site search. That is the only free-text field we keep, and it exists for one purpose: to learn which calculators people look for that we have not built. Do not type anything personal into it.

This answers the question "how many times", never "how many people". We cannot recognise you between visits, and we do not try to.

All of these records are deleted automatically within 90 days.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit the site and which calculators they use. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).

Cookies are set only after you have pressed “Accept”. Until then — and also if you choose “Decline” — Google Analytics runs without cookies: nothing is stored on your device and no persistent identifier is created. The legal basis for the cookies is your consent, not our legitimate interest.

If you agree, Google sets cookies named “_ga” and “_ga_…” that last two years. They are what allow repeat visits to be told apart. Google also processes your IP address to derive an approximate location; Google Analytics 4 does not retain it. Data may be transferred to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

You can change your mind at any time — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. The button is at the end of this page.

The figures you type into a calculator are not sent to Google. The calculation happens in your browser, and neither a salary nor a loan amount nor a weight ever leaves the device.

Abuse protection

So that nobody can inflate the usage counters, we briefly limit how many requests one connection can make. To do that the server uses your IP address for a moment: it is immediately hashed with a random key that is regenerated every time the server starts, truncated, and held only in server memory for about a minute. It is not written to a database, not written to a log, and never leaves the server.

Crash and error reports

If something breaks on the site or in the app, we receive a technical error report so we can fix it. It contains the error and the page path without its parameters. We have switched off IP capture, request headers and session replay — the last of these because on a salary calculator, recording the screen would mean recording your salary.

The app

The mobile app follows the same rules. In addition, its settings carry a switch that turns usage statistics off entirely. Crash reports stay on — they are the only way we learn that the app is crashing for someone.

The app stores three things on your device, and all of them are choices you made: whether statistics are on, which language to show the app in, and whether to use the light or dark appearance. All stay on the device and are never sent anywhere.

The website also stores one choice on your device: light or dark, if you picked one. It is a display preference only, it identifies nobody, it is written only when you press the button, and it never leaves your device — which is why it needs no cookie consent.

Why it is built this way

The cost of this is real and we would rather say it plainly: we do not know how many people use the site, how many come back, or what they do next. We can answer what is popular and what is missing. We cannot build a funnel or measure retention. For a tax calculator, we think that is the right trade.

Common questions about privacy

Does manskalkulators.lv store the numbers I type?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser or in the app, and no salary, weight, loan amount or any other figure you enter is sent anywhere. The server never sees them, so they cannot be handed over, lost, or demanded by court order.

What cookies does the site use?

Analytics cookies are set only after you agree to them in the notice. If consent is not given, no analytics cookie is set at all. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party profiling scripts anywhere on the site.

How long is data kept?

Usage events are deleted within 90 days by a scheduled job, whether anyone asks or not. An event holds only the calculator's name, the language and the event type — no IP address, no device identifier and no session identifier — so it cannot be tied to a person.

How do I withdraw my consent?

At the foot of this page there is a standing control where consent can be withdrawn as easily as it was given — which is what Article 7(3) of the General Data Protection Regulation requires. In the app the same switch sits in Settings and works with no connection.
